Advice and guidance from our experts

Q:  I am currently a 4th year student of Primary Education with Religious Education as my specialist subject. We have recently been given an essay title:

What skills, attitudes and understanding would you expect a child to demonstrate that has had good quality Religious Education? (4000 words)

I was wondering whether you could provide me with your views and any information, recent research or literature that may help me on this subject.

A:  From Professor Terence Copley

Q:  I am a third year Religious Studies student. For one of my essays I have to discuss the effectiveness of how RE is taught in schools today as well as looking at where local government as well as teachers are wanting to see the subject go in the next few years. I am planning to interview one RE co-ordinator for my LA.

Could anyone please give me their views on the effectiveness of RE in schools today - looking at topics such as enthusiasm for the subject, some of the big challenges facing it etc..

A:  From Professor Terence Copley
